To our beloved SFVBA Membership and community,
I write to you all with a very heavy heart. There are no words for what Los Angeles County is experiencing this week. Like many of you, our staff and leadership has experienced terrifying evacuation orders and threats to life and property. We join the Southern California community in its collective grief for this historic disaster.
As we grapple with this unprecedented loss, the SFVBA stands committed and ready to help our members and community. Please view our resource page on the SFVBA’s website where you can find resources for those effected, including how to find legal help, pro bono opportunities for lawyers, and court related information. We will add to this resource as additional information becomes available.
We will also be holding informational sessions for the public who are effected and educational programs for lawyers who may be assisting members of the public. Check the SFVBA calendar regularly for those opportunities.
Access to justice will be critical in the coming months. Here, our Attorney Referral Service (ARS) is available for anyone in Los Angeles and Ventura counties seeking legal help for matters related to this disaster. Free consultations are available to individuals and organizations for referred matters.
In the coming days and weeks, we will remain vigilant to connect our members who are willing to help with those in need with assistance. Should you have a specific need, please do not hesitate to email myself or SFVBA Executive Director, Seth Chavez, so that we may coordinate help.
