LASC Launches New Traffic Citation Alert Portal

The Superior Court of Los Angeles County is introducing a new Traffic Citation Alert System (TCA) that will alert court users via text message (SMS) and/or email when their traffic citation has been filed with the Court.

Before the launch of this alert system, court users had been required to manually check the Court’s Traffic Online Services system until their traffic citation had been filed with the Court by law enforcement. With the new TCA, once the user registers, the Court’s online system performs daily checks for license number and/or citation number to determine if the citation has been filed with the Court. Once the citation is filed with the Court, TCA alerts the court user accordingly through their preferred means of communication.

HOW THE TRAFFIC CITATION ALERT SYSTEM WORKS

1. Create a Court ID: Court users electing to subscribe to the TCA must create a Court ID with a valid email address and password.
2. Log Into TCA and Provide Consent: The user then visits the TCA, provides consent and searches for a traffic citation filed with the Court using a license number with date of birth or ticket number.
3. Confirm Communications Preferences: Court users then elect to receive email reminders and/or text message reminders from the Court, with the option to receive a notification as soon as the ticket is received by the Court.

Traffic citations typically take up to 30 days to be posted online with the Court. The Court will not have information about the traffic citation until the law enforcement agency files the ticket in the Court’s system.
