LASC to Announce Launch of New Platform with Justice Partners to Automate Firearm Relinquishment Restraining Order Violations to Law Enforcement Agencies

The Superior Court of Los Angeles County, in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, will detail a new digital platform that automates the transmission of firearm relinquishment restraining order violations to Los Angeles County law enforcement agencies, strengthening public safety and enhancing efficiency, communication and coordination between justice partners.

Superior Court of Los Angeles County to Launch New Platform with Justice Partners to Automate Firearm Relinquishment Restraining Order Violations to Law Enforcement Agencies

The Court’s new digital platform automatically notifies Los Angeles County law enforcement agencies when the Court determines that an individual within their jurisdiction has failed to relinquish firearms, firearms parts or ammunition as part of a domestic violence restraining order or other restraining orders with a court-ordered firearms relinquishment.

This new notification system automates what had previously been a multi-layered manual process, allowing the Court to more efficiently notify all 88 law enforcement agencies within Los Angeles County when a violation occurs within their respective jurisdiction.
