A Constant Through the Years: Honoring Linda Temkin.
From the moment that I joined the Association, up through my installation as President, there has been one constant – Linda Temkin. To the best of my knowledge, Linda has never missed a Judge’s Night, an Installation Gala, a Membership Appreciation event or any of the other events that she has helped the organize on behalf of the Association. I know that I have personally worked with her to organize a number of new programs over the years – including a Candidates Forum for Council District 12, every single Mock Trial event we’ve hosted, and many others. She has dedicated countless hours to ensuring that our events, big and small, have worked smoothly and been enjoyed by everyone who has been able to attend.
Linda’s last day with the Association, May 15, will mark a significant transition to all of us who have worked with Linda for our entire time at the Association. And it is with a very happy heart that we will be able to honor her with a Lifetime Achievement Award at our Judge’s Night on May 14. Her place alongside our Judge of the Century (the Honorable Tani Cantil-Sakauye), Judge of the Year (the Honorable Valarie Salkin), Stanley Mosk Legacy of Justice Award recipient (the Honorable Huey Cotton), and the Community Impact Award recipient (the Honorable Thomas Rubinson), is very well deserved.
Those of you who know Linda will know how embarrassed she will be to both receive her well-deserved recognition, and from this President’s column dedicated to her. But while her humility and dedication are very much to her credit, I hope that each and every person who reads this column will take a moment to send Linda a message thanking her for everything that she has done for our Association – and all of its members – during her long tenure.
So please, join us on May 14 at Judge’s Night to thank Linda Temkin for her lifetime of work for our Association, and to recognize so many of our amazing jurists during our 100th anniversary as a Bar Association.
