Member spotlight: Nolan Hiett

Nolan received his undergraduate degree from UCLA, and J.D. from Southwestern. He spent four years as an associate at the family law firm of Brot Gross Fishbein LLP before launching a solo practice in 2019.  He is launching Palyan Hiett LLP in June with his friend and colleague Tigran Palyan. They will practice family law exclusively, consistent with their careers to date.

About half of Nolan’s current caseload is comprised of minor’s counsel appointments, where he represents children’s best interests in custody cases. He also has a special interest in litigating domestic violence restraining orders. Nolan tires to settle everything that can be settled, but enjoys the rigors of litigation when a case can’t be settled.

Nolan deeply respects the hard work of the family law bench, and values their participation in our bar associations and MCLE events. He is a member of the Family Law Executive Committee in both the SFVBA and LACBA.

Nolan was honored to Co-Chair LACBA’s 2025 Minor’s Counsel Training Program with Elise Greenberg, one of his mentors.

Nolan proudly calls the San Fernando Valley his home. He is a hot yoga enthusiast and avid runner, will run his first ultramarathon later this year.  Among his favorite travel memories is a summer trip to the Galapagos islands. As for favorite domestic destinations, he looks forward to annual visits to New York City.
