Bench Bar Updates

Effective May 21, 2026, the Superior Court of Los Angeles County has issued a Fourth Amended Standing Order – Civil Limited Jurisdiction Cases Calendared in Departments 25 and 26 of the Spring Street Courthouse, non-collection and non-unlawful detainer (eviction) cases.

Among its provisions, it sets an initial Order to Show Cause (OSC) re: Proof of Service on the date set for trial. That OSC date formerly was set at the three-year anniversary of the filing date.

This Fourth Amended Standing Order supersedes and replaces the previously issued Third Amended Standing Order and all prior orders pertaining to the same subjects in their entirety.

All parties are hereby notified that Civil Limited Jurisdiction Cases – non-collection and non-unlawful detainer (eviction) cases – assigned to Departments 25 and 26 of the Spring Street Courthouse, or any other such department that hears limited civil cases, shall proceed in accordance with the Fourth Amended Standing Order effective May 21, 2026.
