Summary

This session is a Bankruptcy 101 program designed for attorneys and staff with little to no understanding of the basic rules of bankruptcy.  The program evolved from an article published by Prof Hayes in the Daily Journal in 2002 originally entitled, Seven Rules to a Thorough Understanding of 70% of the Bankruptcy Code.   The seven rules apply to all bankruptcy chapters, 7, 11 and 13.

It will provide simple, easy to understand, explanations of how bankruptcy works, what it does and what it does not do, how it intersects with state substantive law.  Bankruptcy is largely a process, rather than substantive law, which you will understand by the end of the program.
