Summary

This webinar offers a practical and attorney focused overview of the Social Security disability framework, with an emphasis on understanding Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and how eligibility is evaluated under each program. The session will also examine how federal disability benefits interact with other systems, including Early and Full Retirement benefits, State Disability Insurance (SDI), Workers’ Compensation, private long term disability benefits, and related public benefit programs.

In addition, the presentation will highlight the role of international totalization agreements in determining insured status for SSDI and retirement eligibility for individuals with work histories spanning multiple countries. Attendees will gain practical insights to better advise clients navigating overlapping benefit programs, and cross-border coverage issues.
