More than 250 members of the Valley legal community were on hand, February 28, at the San Fernando Valley Bar Association’s Judges’ Night Dinner to honor Los Angeles Superior Court Judges David B. Gelfound and Shirley K. Watkins for their years of distinguished service to the community and the legal profession.
The annual event was held at the Warner Center Marriott Hotel in Woodland Hills, California.
Judge Gelfound was recognized as the Bar Association’s 2019 Judge of the Year, while Judge Watkins was presented with the organization’s Administration of Justice Award.
“It is always exciting to honor individuals and their outstanding contributions to enhance the competent, ethical, and diverse practice of law, and the fair administration of justice,” says San Fernando Valley Bar Association President, Yi Sun Kim. “We are inspired by the honorees’ stories and humbled by the sincerity and selflessness of their careers.”
The Bar’s Inclusion and Diversity Committee also took the opportunity to acknowledge Los Angeles Superior Court Presiding Judge, Kevin C. Brazile and Assistant Presiding Judge Judge Eric C. Taylor with Special Recognition “for their successful, ongoing efforts to diversify and engage the bench, and their unwavering support of the 93-year-old San Fernando Valley Bar Association and its goals.”
