March 14, 2019 – The Central Family Law Division at the Los Angeles Superior Court has announced the following changes to courtroom operations:
Effective April 2, 2019, Departments 2-B, 2-C and 6 will become independent calendar courtrooms. New petition filings (i.e., petitions for dissolution, legal separation, nullity, parentage, etc.), will be randomly assigned to these departments commencing February 20, 2019.
Also effective April 2, 2019, all requests for temporary restraining orders will be randomly assigned to an independent calendar courtroom for ruling and scheduling of the evidentiary hearing. Requests for temporary restraining orders should continue to be submitted to the Restraining Order Center for initial processing. This includes all new requests for temporary restraining orders and requests where there is an existing active family law case.
