The San Fernando Valley Bar Association (SFVBA) recently honored Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Virginia Keeny with its prestigious Judge of the Year Award in recognition of her years of distinguished service to the Valley community and the legal profession.
The award was presented before more than 275 attendees at the organization’s annual Judges’ Night Dinner at the Warner Center Marriott Hotel in Woodland Hills, California.
“In my years with the Bar, I have never seen a Judge of the Year get such positive and consistent praise,” said attorney Barry Goldberg, president of the Woodland Hills-based SFVBA.
Judge Keeny, he added, “is approachable and loves to talk about the law, the courts and the lawyer experience in L.A. County. Every lawyer and judge I spoke with at the event, congratulated the SFVBA on making an excellent selection. I must have heard a hundred lawyers say ‘she deserves this!’ “
The event also provided a platform to honor the professionalism and dedication of the Los Angeles Superior Court Court Commissioners― Alicia Y. Blanco; Mary Lou Byrne; Maria R. Byrum; William D. Dodson; Martin R. Gladstein; Jeffrey M. Harkavy; Steven Lee Monette; Marilyn M. Mordetzky; Dennis E. Mulcahy; Collette Serio; and Susan K. Weiss―who conduct hearings and adjudicate cases in civil, criminal, family, child support, juvenile, probate, small claims and traffic matters in the Superior Court’s Northwest, Northeast, North Central and North Valley Districts.
