The Los Angeles Superior Court is currently seeking practicing attorneys who are looking to enhance their legal skills and support the administration of justice in Los Angeles County by serving as Temporary Judges.
Virtual Bench Conduct and Demeanor training via WebEx will be offered for those interested on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Reservations to participate in the training session should be e-mailed to TempJudgeProgram@lacourt.org no later than September 14, 2022.
MCLE credit is provided for this training, which is mandatory as the California Rules of Court require Temporary Judges to receive three hours of live training in bench conduct and demeanor, plus three hours of training in judicial ethics and at least one area of substantive law―traffic, small claims, unlawful detainers, and family law.
Online training in judicial ethics and Traffic is available at http://www2.courtinfo.ca.gov/protem/. To expedite the process, those applying should submit their Certificates of Completion for online courses and their application to the Temporary Judge Program at TempJudgeProgram@lacourt.org prior to live training.
For other areas of substantive law, please contact the Temporary Judge Program Office.
The ‘fillable form’ application and additional information regarding the Temporary Judge Program can be found on the Court website at www.lacourt.org under the General Information tab.
Any questions regarding the Temporary Judges program should be directed to Qiana Bowens, Court Operations Manager – Temporary Judge Program at 213-633-0036 or qbowens@lacourt.org.
