LASC Presiding Judge Eric C. Taylor will give opening remarks at the first 2022 Judicial Mentor Program Outreach Workshop, followed by small virtual breakout rooms in which attorneys will have the opportunity to ask judges questions about the judicial application process.
“These free workshop sessions give attorneys the opportunity to learn more about the judicial application process that many aspiring jurists view as shrouded in mystery,” Presiding Judge Taylor said. “Members of our very talented bench are deeply committed to mentoring qualified judicial candidates from diverse backgrounds to serve as the next generation of judges who will bring valuable and varied life experiences, backgrounds and perspectives to serve Californians seeking access to justice.”

Launched in November 2020, the Los Angeles Superior Court’s Judicial Mentor Program has served approximately 2,200 members of the legal community through mentor pairing, outreach presentations and workshops.
Since the program’s inception, 98 judicial mentor volunteers have been paired with more than 170 attorneys from diverse backgrounds. Mentor judges meet with the attorneys to provide information about the application process, answer their questions and suggest career steps they can take to become qualified judicial applicants. The mentor relationship is expected to last for one year and the parties are required to meet at least four times within that year.
